THE PRACTICE
Baynes and Mitchell Architects was established in 1999. Our workload varies in type and value from small residential buildings to medium-sized commercial projects. We are based in central London giving us easy access to clients and consultants wherever they are based.

We have extensive experience in the renovation of existing buildings, in the incorporation of modern elements into old and historic buildings and in the design of new buildings with a modern, contemporary edge. We also have a working knowledge and experience of planning authorities, the building control process and conservation bodies such as English Heritage. We have worked within the Bedford Park estate, the Crown Estate, Chatham Historic Dockyard, the Ilchester Estate, and Grosvenor estates.

We strive to design simple, understandable, modern buildings which respond to the specifics of their briefs and to the social and physical contexts of the sites involved. With every project, we carefully analyse the brief in close consultation with the client and believe that debate and discussion are an integral part of the design process.
